Smartphone Market Update

The smartphone market is one that is significantly growing every day. A research company known as ComScore recently released some information specific to the top smartphone platforms in the United States. A surprising find was that Android was the only platform among BlackBerry, Apple, and Microsoft to gain additional market share for the 3 months ended in May of 2010. During the 3 months from March to May of 2010, 49.1 million consumers in the United States owned smartphones, which was an 8.1% increase from the prior three months. As you can see from ComScore’s findings below, BlackBerry maker Research in Motion led the market with a 41.7% share, followed by Apple with 24.4%, Microsoft with 13.2%, and Google moving up fast at 13%.
