Read About Mitek & ClairMail in Mobile Commerce Daily

Last week we announced that Mitek’s Mobile Deposit will be included with ClairMail’s suite of products and this news seems to have caught the attention of many, including Mobile Commerce Daily.

Mitek’s Mobile Deposit To Be Included With ClairMail

This morning ClairMail announced that Mitek’s Mobile Deposit will be included with their mobile banking and payments platform.  This opens the door for many banking institutions to be able to easily offer mobile deposit capabilities to their customers.

By integrating Mobile Deposit, ClairMail enables their customers to deposit checks from anywhere and adds new convenience and value to ClairMail’s rich mobile banking offering.”

Mobile Receipt Helps Keep Attorney On The Case

Mary Farrell is an attorney who runs her own firm specializing in all aspects of labor and employment law.  In her practice, one of the topics that comes up from time to time is one of “unintentional misuse.” In layman terms this
means using something for a purpose other than which it was originally designed.  Usually in regards to the law, when someone is talking about unintentional misuse something bad has happened.  Not in this case.

We originally designed Mobile Receipt with the truly mobile professional in mind. The Road Warrior.  The person in the field.  We didn’t fully anticipate how small business owners would use Mobile Receipt to track all of their expenses.

As with many small businesses, Mary is in charge of the business as well as the business of the business. She uses QuickBooks as her primary accounting system and refers to Mobile Receipt as her “mobile accounting system.”  She set up categories for her expense reports within Mobile Receipt that mirror the categories she has set up within QuickBooks. She captures receipts on the fly In Mobile receipt for items like taxis, client meals and marketing and then sorts the reports by category for easy input into QuickBooks. Along the way she is creating an additional backup for her own accounting system and increasing her efficiency.

Mobile Receipt is part of our Oomph (Office On My PHone), suite of productivity apps for smartphones, and as we continue to add new applications we’re going to look much more closely at the potential  for how others might be using them.

Read About Mobile Phax for BlackBerry in SDDT

We’ve had a lot of interest in Mobile Phax for BlackBerry but there’s always something special about one of your hometown papers writing about your new product.

You can read all about it as well.

Have a BlackBerry? It’s time to Phax!

This morning we introduced our first product for the BlackBerry.  Mobile Phax is now available in BlackBerry App World.  This means that all of the road warriors who live with their BlackBerry smartphones can now send a documents to colleagues, prospects and customers with as much ease as taking a picture.

You can learn more about Mobile Phax on our website, and more about Oomph (Office On My Phone), our suite of productivity apps for mobile professionals.

Go try Mobile Phax on your BlackBerry then let us know how you are using it.  We’re always looking for more stories of users to feature here.

Mobile Receipt v. 1.3 is Live In The App Store

Since we introduced Mobile Receipt late last Summer, we’ve been hard at work adding new features and expanding the utility of the application.  Some of the new features are a result of direct requests from users, and some are features that we wanted to include in Version 1 but weren’t able to.

  • Select your currency, formatted specifically for your country.
  • Enter receipt notes, report names, and even category names in your language! All foreign characters (Latin alphabet) are supported.
  • You are warned right away about low-quality photos so you can retake them (but you can also ignore the warning).
  • Enter an expense even if you don’t have a paper receipt – for instance a cash tip.
  • Delete an expense report quickly, with one swipe. No need to remove all its receipts first.

We love the feedback we’re getting and we really appreciate your sending in your notes on how you are using Mobile Receipt.  Thank you!

If there’s an addiction to Apps we have a cure

We just read an article by Om Malik about a growing segment of iPhone App users that Flurry terms, “App Addicts.”

According to Flurry, an App Addict is someone who uses an app three or more times per day or more than 100 times per month. We don’t support addiction, but given how some people are using Mobile Receipt, they may need to talk to someone.

Our suggestion? Embrace your use.   Or better yet, icnrease your efficiency with the app, which would free up time to try another one. May we suggest Mobile Phax?

Realtor Increases Efficiency And Client Service In The Field With Mobile Phax

Jeffrey Douglass describes himself as “a reformed/recovering manager of a large real estate brokerage and now the Owner/Broker of RealtyV2, in San Diego, California.”

RealtyV2_72dpi

We met Jeffrey on Twitter and turns out he has uncovered some pretty cool uses for Mobile Phax.

As a Realtor, Jeffrey spends a lot of time out in the field, meeting with clients, showing properties and as is necessary in his business a lot of paperwork.  Jeffrey has a portable scanner/copier that he takes with him sometimes to client meetings but he’s recently started using Mobile Phax on his iPhone to accomplish many of the tasks he used to do with his portable scanner.

Now, when he’s meeting with a client and they would like to send a counteroffer, or give a check as a good faith deposit, instead of pulling out his portable scanner, taking his laptop out of the bag, booting them both up and scanning the document or check, he just pulls out his iPhone and sends it as a Phax.

The counteroffer or check is sent, and the recipient receives it right away and when he gets back to his desk, his copy is waiting there for him as a PDF.

We like the idea that Realty 2.0 includes Mobile Phax.  Our bet is that Mobile Phax is going to be part of a lot of businesses being reinvented over the next few years.

Are you using Mobile Phax in an interesting way?  We’d love to hear from you at press at miteksystems dot com.

Mobile Receipt – Part of a road warrior’s suite of travel apps

Phil Covert travels quite a bit in his role as a Director at a SAAS, software as a service, company. Since he’s on the road so often, he has put together his own suite of Apps that he uses on his iPhone when he travels for work.

iPhoneTravel

Mobile Receipt is as important a part of his travel suite as Flight Status, Yelp and Southwest Airlines.

Here’s what Phil had to say about Mobile Receipt:
“Mobile Receipt is a fantastic product for the iPhone that has greatly improved my productivity while traveling on business.   Now, instead of taping and faxing receipts, I just take a picture of them and Mobile Receipt creates an expense report for me.”

“Then I insert that report directly into the ADP Concur software used by our company which allows receipts to be entered electronically.  I’m done.”

What Apps do you use when you’re on the road for business? If you’re using Mobile Receipt let us know at press at miteksystems dot com.

PS – Phil it looks like you have two missed calls

Helping business get down to business, one app at a time – Our app is Mobile Receipt

Those aren’t our words. Those are Apple’s. If you were reading the Wall Street Journal this morning and turned over the front section, you would have seen this:

Look in the left column. That’s Mobile Receipt. This ad captured what we are doing with Mobile Receipt and all of the apps in Oomph, Office On My Phone, our suite of apps for mobile professionals.

If you’re having trouble reading the text of the ad with their description of Mobile Receipt, here you go:

“$4.99 – Keep business receipts organized. Use your iPhone to snap a photo of a paper receipt and it will automatically scale, crop and digitally save it in one tidy place.” We would like to add that it also quickly and easily formats it into an expense report.

Like the ad says, get down to business, go buy Mobile Receipt in the App store.
